Reading a battery's voltage says almost nothing about its state of charge, especially with LiFePO4 whose discharge curve is flat. The BMV-712 counts amp-hours in and out through a precision shunt and shows a real percentage.
It also computes the time remaining before full discharge at the current consumption rate. Seeing "14 h remaining" instead of "12.8 V" completely changes how you manage an evening without sun, especially at a cabin where the question comes up every winter day.
Built-in Bluetooth allows monitoring and configuration from a phone, and programmable alarms warn before the battery drops too low. It also integrates with the rest of the Victron ecosystem over VE.Direct.
The power of intelligent energy management
The shunt measures every amp in and out. It is the only reliable way to know a LiFePO4 battery's state of charge.
The device turns instantaneous draw into time remaining. Directly actionable information, unlike a raw voltage.
Monitor a second battery, a generator's for instance, or connect a temperature probe to the main bank.
