Description
The disconnect is the first safety device an inspector looks for. It must physically cut every string in an array, be visible, lockable and weather resistant.
This IP66 model isolates four strings at once with a rotary handle padlockable in the open position. The polycarbonate enclosure resists UV and frost, and the supplied cable glands seal the cable entries.
On a ground or roof installation it sits between the array and the technical room. In a fire it is what lets firefighters de-energize the DC side, reason enough on its own never to skip it.

Padlockable
The handle locks open with a standard padlock. That is the lockout requirement when someone is working on the array.
Sealed year-round
IP66 means resistance to powerful water jets. Freezing rain, snowmelt and pressure washing do not reach it.
Standardized identification
A red handle on a yellow base is the recognized colour code for emergency disconnection, instantly identifiable by a firefighter.
