Description
An M16 × 1.5 cable gland for passing a cable through an enclosure wall. The nut compresses a split seal around the jacket and clamps the cable.
It does two underrated jobs. It keeps water out of the hole — on a roof or exterior-wall enclosure, that is the most direct path in. And it takes the mechanical load: a pull on the cable stops at the gland instead of reaching the terminal, which would eventually work loose.
Pick the size for the cable, not the hole. An oversized gland on a thin jacket clamps nothing and lets moisture in just as surely as a bare hole. M16 covers the common 4 and 6 mm² photovoltaic cable sizes.
