Description
A properly locked MC4 connector does not separate by hand, and that is exactly the point: snow, wind and handling must never be able to unplug it. To undo one deliberately you must spread both clips at once, which only these keys allow.
Many installers improvise with a screwdriver, which breaks the clips or scratches the seal. A connector damaged that way no longer guarantees IP68 and lets moisture in; two $19 keys cost less than replacing a connector on a roof in February.
These keys are stainless steel with a hanging hole for a carabiner. Keep a pair permanently in the technical room.
